Just to confirm that lessons will resume 6 July. Driving theory tests will restart 4 July and practical tests 22 July. I presume there is a gigantic backlog of tests that need to be re-booked and at this time I have not received any information when DVSA’s booking system will be back online. Because of the test cancellations in July, I now have plenty of free spaces in July. You can book here.
When lessons resume 6 July I will have to introduce a number of precautions.
I will take the following steps to ensure the risks are reduced.
1. Request that you wash/clean your hands before every driving lesson. In the event that this hasn’t been possible – if you, for instance, come straight from work- hand sanitiser, water and soap will be available in the car.
2. If you want to wear disposable gloves please put them on just before entering the car.
3. Request that if you have Covid-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone showing signs of Covid-19 that you do not attend lessons and self-isolate as per government advice.
4. The vehicle will be thoroughly sanitised before & after lessons on all contact points, i.e. windows and mirror controls, seat and head restraints, seatbelt and its connection, gear lever, steering wheel, indicator and wiper stalks, car keys and training resources, and inside and outside door handles.
5. Windows will be open as much as possible during lessons to allow for ventilation.
6. Currently there is no legal requirement for students to wear a face mask or a visor. This is entirely up to the student. I will not wear a face mask but can wear a visor if requested by the student. Any face coverings or masks needs to be secure and not interfere with the controls or your ability to drive safely. I have tried myself driving wearing different types of face masks but after 5 minutes my glasses were completely fogged up. This is obviously very unsafe!
Please make sure to familiarise yourself with my Terms & Conditions, which have been updated to reflect the risks from Covid-19 (Paragraphs 14 – 23 are new).
